Baby Sold for Rs 50,000 Rescued in Sundargarh After Seven Months

Sundargarh, April 28: A shocking case of child trafficking in Sundargarh has come to light after a baby boy, allegedly sold for Rs 50,000, was rescued seven months later.

The incident began on August 31, when a woman from Patamunda (Koida block) delivered the child at Rourkela Government Hospital.

Following media reports, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Koida CDPO launched an investigation.

Officials discovered that middlemen had purchased the baby and later sold him to a childless couple in Bargarh for Rs 1.90 lakh.

After months of tracking, Childline officials raided the couple’s locked house in Bargarh and rescued the child.

The Bargarh CWC has informed its Sundargarh counterpart, confirming that the baby will be handed over to the district team.

Authorities assured that the child will soon be relocated to Sundargarh headquarters, marking the end of a prolonged investigation.
