Youth Drives Scooter into Sea While Filming Reel in Puri, Day After Teen Dies in Train Accident

PURI, Oct 23 — In a disturbing trend of risky social media stunts, a youth in Puri narrowly escaped drowning after driving his scooter into the sea at Golden Beach while filming a reel. The incident occurred just a day after a 17-year-old boy tragically died while recording a video near railway tracks in the same district.

Eyewitnesses at Golden Beach reported that the youth lost control of his scooter as waves surged toward the shore. The vehicle became stuck in wet sand, putting him at risk of being swept away. Locals quickly intervened, rescuing both the youth and his scooter. He sustained minor injuries.

This follows the October 22 death of a teenager from Manglaghat, who was struck by a speeding train near Janakadeipur railway station while attempting to film a reel. Preliminary investigations suggest negligence during filming contributed to the fatal accident.

Authorities have expressed concern over the growing obsession with viral content, urging young people to prioritize safety and responsibility while creating social media videos. No official statement has yet been released by Puri Police.
