Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Finds New Home in Dhaka After Multiple Venue Shifts
In a dramatic turn of events, the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 has officially relocated to Dhaka, Bangladesh, following two prior venue changes within India.
The tournament, now set to take place from November 15 to 25 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium, marks a pivotal moment for international kabaddi.
Originally scheduled for Bihar in June, the event was later moved to Hyderabad in August, only to be postponed again due to scheduling conflicts with the Pro Kabaddi League.
To avoid further disruption, the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) confirmed Bangladesh as the final host.
This second edition of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup returns after a 13-year hiatus, with 14 nations competing for the title: India, Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, Thailand, Argentina, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar, Nepal, and Chinese Taipei.
The inaugural edition in 2012, held in Patna, saw India clinch the championship, followed by Iran, Japan, and Thailand.
With Dhaka now stepping in, the tournament aims to reignite global interest and expand the sport’s international footprint.
