Women Power and Youth Innovation: PM Modi’s Odisha Spotlight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his latest Mann Ki Baat address, lauded the remarkable contributions of Odisha’s youth and women in driving national development.

He highlighted the achievements of Om Prakash Rath from Kendrapara, whose essay on women-led development stood out among 1.6 lakh shortlisted entries in the MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026.

Modi emphasised the importance of young voices in shaping inclusive policies.

The Prime Minister also celebrated Sujata Bhuyan from Sambalpur, who transformed her life from a homemaker to a successful fish farmer in the Hirakud reservoir.

Despite challenges such as erratic weather and limited resources, Bhuyan built a thriving enterprise, symbolising resilience and empowerment.

Modi underscored broader themes of farmer welfare, green development, sports, skill-building, and entrepreneurship, while stressing the fisheries sector’s role in building a self-reliant India.

e noted government initiatives supporting infrastructure, insurance, and technology-driven weather tools to strengthen the sector.

The address reflected Odisha’s growing role in national progress, with its youth and women embodying innovation, resilience, and leadership.
