Woman gang-raped in Bhubaneswar hotel after being given sedative, 3 arrested
Bhubaneswar, 14 Sept (UNI) A woman, who aspired to make a career as a playback singer, was allegedly gang-raped by three people at a hotel in Bhubaneswar, after they lured her on the pretext of introducing her to a music composer, police said today.
The woman was allegedly gang-raped on September 10. Three accused, including a caretaker of the hotel located at the Chandrasekarpur area of the city, were arrested after the rape survivor lodged a complaint.
“The arrested persons had given her soft drinks laced with sedatives. After she lost consciousness, they committed the crime,” police said, quoting the contents of the rape survivor’s complaint.
The accused and the victim were medically examined, police said. Later, the suspects were remanded in judicial custody after a local court rejected their bail application, police added.
