Woman dies after bull attack in Bhubaneswar; residents protest, demand action

Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) Feb 10: In a tragic incident, a woman succumbed to injuries on Monday after being attacked by a bull in the Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar. The incident occurred in Barimunda under the jurisdiction of Mancheswar police station.
According to sources, the victim, identified as Hemalata Das, was attacked by a stray bull on Sunday and sustained severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she battled for her life but ultimately passed away on Monday morning.
Residents of the area have blamed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for inaction, alleging that despite repeated complaints about the increasing menace of stray bulls, no concrete measures were taken. The situation escalated as outraged locals took to the streets, blocking roads and staging a protest demanding a permanent solution to the issue. They also sought adequate compensation for the victim’s family.
It is worth noting that at least five people were injured in a similar bull attack last week, raising concerns over public safety. The incident has reignited calls for immediate intervention by the authorities.
