VSSUT Imposes Dress Code for First-Year Students Starting 2025

(OT Webdesk)The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, has announced a mandatory uniform dress code for all first-year undergraduate students, effective from the 2025–26 academic session.

The move, aimed at standardising student attire and enhancing campus safety, excludes postgraduate and PhD scholars.

According to the directive, male students must wear formal navy blue shirts and pants, while female students can choose between a navy blue shirt and pants or a navy blue shalwar-kameez paired with a waistcoat.

All shirts must be sky blue, and jeans and dupattas are strictly prohibited—the latter reportedly banned for safety reasons.

Students are required to arrange their uniforms by the end of August 2025, ensuring colour accuracy with samples displayed on the university notice board.

The administration has warned that non-compliance will invite disciplinary action.

This marks the first time in recent years that VSSUT has enforced a dress code for undergraduates, sparking conversations around uniformity, discipline, and student autonomy.
