Odisha Vigilance DA case

Vigilance Nabs Cuttack SI for Rs 20K Bribe in Insurance Document Scam

In a decisive move against corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Saturday apprehended Prasanna Kumar Mohali, Sub-Inspector at Subarnapur Out Post under Banki Police Station, Cuttack.

Mohali was caught red-handed accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe from a bricks factory owner.

The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for a seizure list and FIR copy—documents essential for the complainant’s insurance claim after his factory was set ablaze by unidentified miscreants.

The factory owner, frustrated by repeated refusals and harassment, alerted Vigilance authorities, prompting a swift trap operation.

Officials recovered the full bribe amount from Mohali. Simultaneous searches are underway at three of his properties to investigate disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing.
