Vice President Radhakrishnan Honors Netaji in Cuttack on Parakram Diwas

Cuttack, Odisha: Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan paid floral tributes to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at his birthplace in Cuttack on the occasion of Parakram Diwas.

Arriving in Odisha earlier than scheduled, the Vice President landed at Bhubaneswar Airport and proceeded directly to Cuttack, where he was received with a Guard of Honour by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and senior officials.

At the Netaji Birthplace Museum, Radhakrishnan offered tributes at Netaji’s statue and inaugurated a Philatelic Gallery showcasing India’s postal heritage.

He also opened the District Culture Bhawan, aimed at promoting regional art and culture.

Security was tightened across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during the high-profile visit, with the Netaji Memorial closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Later, the Vice President visited Lok Seva Bhawan for lunch before departing for Kolkata in the afternoon.

Local leaders, including Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous, expressed pride in Netaji’s association with the city and reiterated the demand to declare his birthplace at Odia Bazaar a National Heritage Site.

Parakram Diwas, observed annually on Netaji’s birth anniversary, celebrates his courage, vision, and enduring legacy that continues to inspire generations.
