Veteran leader Manmohan Samal re-elected as Odisha BJP president

Bhubaneswar, July 8 (UNI) Veteran leader Manmohan Samal has been re-elected as the Odisha state BJP chief for the second consecutive term, the party officially announced today.

Samal was elected unanimously, being the only candidate to file a nomination for the crucial post yesterday.

Party election observer Sanjay Jaiswal officially announced Samal’s name today as the new state BJP president.

This marks Samal’s fourth term as state party president. He had earlier held the position in 1999–2000, 2000–2004, and March 2023.

Samal contested the 2024 Assembly election but was defeated by the BJD candidate.

He was elected to the Odisha Assembly in 2004 from the Dhamnagar constituency and later served as Minister of Revenue, Food Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in the BJD-BJP coalition government headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
