Two Men Detained at Bhubaneswar Airport Amid Suspicion of Illegal Entry
Authorities detained two men outside Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Sunday after a taxi driver raised suspicion about their identity.
The duo reportedly gave inconsistent answers when asked about their details and destination, prompting locals to intervene and hand them over to the Airport Police Station.
Police have begun verifying their identities and stated that if the men are confirmed to be illegal entrants, they will face legal action.
This incident comes against the backdrop of Odisha’s intensified campaign against illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Assembly that 51 illegal Bangladeshi nationals had been identified in the state, with 49 already deported.
Authorities continue document checks across districts, particularly in coastal regions such as Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Malkangiri, where infiltration cases are more frequent.
Local residents welcomed the vigilance, noting that such alertness helps Odisha avoid challenges similar to those faced in neighbouring states. The case underscores the importance of citizen awareness in supporting national security efforts.
