Two arrested for raping minor niece in Odisha: Police

Puri, Oct 25 (UNI) Odisha Police have arrested two persons for allegedly raping a minor girl, their niece, in Puri district, an officer said today.
According to Puri Police, the incident in Biragobindpur Dakhin Bhoi Sahi under Chandanpur Police Station limits occurred on October 23 when the victim’s parents had gone to attend the immersion ceremony of Goddess Kali.

Taking advantage of their absence, the two accused allegedly entered the house, tied up her elder sister, and raped the minor.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and POCSO Act, apprehended both accused, and are interrogating them.

The duo will be sent to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical examination.
The District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has been directed to provide necessary care and counselling to the victim girl.
