Thunderstorm Alert in Odisha: Yellow Warning Issued for Several Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by rain, lightning, and gusty winds across Odisha until April 2, 2026.

On Monday, alerts were sounded for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts, where evening weather changes are expected to bring rain and winds reaching 30–40 km/h.

Officials have also warned of possible hailstorms in isolated areas.

The forecast indicates that additional districts — including Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Mayurbhanj — may experience thunderstorm activity tomorrow.

Residents are advised to remain cautious, particularly during late hours when conditions are likely to shift rapidly.

The weather department has urged people to stay indoors during lightning strikes, avoid open fields, and secure loose items that could be affected by strong winds.

Farmers have been advised to take protective measures for standing crops to minimise damage.
