Sangareddy, Telangana(OT Webdesk) – A catastrophic explosion at a chemical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Monday morning has claimed over 35 lives, including four workers from Odisha.
The blast, triggered by a tank rupture, led to a massive fire that spread rapidly across the facility where over 150 workers were reportedly present.
The deceased Odia workers were identified as:
- Jagan Mohan (Ganjam)
- Lagnajit Duari (Tigiria, Cuttack)
- Manoj Rout (Balasore)
- Dolagobinda Sahu (Jajpur)
Four others from Odisha remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment.
Odisha’s OSD Pratish Panda confirmed the casualties and visited the site with a two-member team to coordinate relief and investigation efforts.
The blast was so intense that bodies were found flung more than 100 meters from the site.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced ex gratia payments: Rs 1 crore for families of the deceased, Rs 10 lakh for those critically injured, and Rs 5 lakh for minor injuries.
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident while rescue operations continue.
“This is a dark day for scores of families, especially those who travelled from far-off states in search of livelihood,” said an official from the site.
