Teen Killed, Three Injured in Head-On Collision at Barbil’s Station Road

Barbil, Kendujhar: A tragic road accident in Ward No. 12 near the ITI campus in Barbil claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy and left three others critically injured on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Machhua Munda, a resident of Hiyarpur.

According to eyewitnesses, a scooter and a motorcycle coming from opposite directions collided head-on with such force that both vehicles were shattered on the road.

All four riders, reportedly minors, sustained severe injuries. Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately shifted the victims to the Barbil Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Doctors declared one boy dead on arrival, while the three injured were referred to another facility for advanced treatment after receiving first aid.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and began an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding or reckless driving may have caused the accident.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination. Traffic movement near the ITI junction was disrupted for some time following the crash.

Authorities have registered a case and initiated further proceedings. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about road safety and the dangers of underage driving in the region.
