TD Vaccine Reaction Hospitalizes Two Schoolgirls in Nuapada
Nuapada, — Two Class 10 students from Sinapali Nodal High School were hospitalised on Wednesday after reportedly falling ill following the administration of the Tetanus-Diphtheria (TD) vaccine during a scheduled immunisation drive.
According to school authorities, Gitanjali Nayak collapsed shortly after receiving the injection and was rushed to the Sinapali Community Health Centre.
Another student, Jharana Meher, also exhibited symptoms and was taken to the same facility. Both students received primary treatment and are now in stable condition.
The vaccination drive, conducted by two female health workers and one male staffer from the Health Department, covered 78 out of 138 students.
The sudden reaction has sparked concern among parents, with many questioning the safety protocols and alleging negligence in vaccine administration.
Local officials have assured a thorough investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the episode has reignited calls for stricter oversight of school-based health programs and better preparedness for medical emergencies during such drives.
