Tangi Tollgate Bus Accident: Overspeeding Leads to Narrow Escape
A major accident occurred near the Tangi Tollgate on Sunday afternoon when a passenger bus named Shri Ganesh, carrying around 45 passengers from Jajpur to Bhubaneswar, overturned due to overspeeding.
The mishap took place between 2:30 and 3:00 pm, leaving at least seven passengers injured, including two in serious condition.
Emergency services rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where their condition is reported to be stable.
The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, while the conductor was detained for questioning.
Police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Uninjured passengers were provided alternative transport to continue their journey.
Authorities have emphasised the dangers of overspeeding on busy inter‑city routes, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic safety measures.
