Suspended Odisha Police SI Arrested for Marrying Minor, Alleged Abuse

Jagatsinghpur, (OT Webdesk) — In a dramatic breakthrough, police on Wednesday arrested suspended Sub-Inspector Amit Padhi, who had been absconding for four months after being accused of marrying a minor girl and subjecting her to abuse.

Padhi, a native of Balasore and formerly posted in Puri, allegedly met the girl via social media before marrying her. Investigations revealed that he later harassed her physically and mentally, eventually driving her out of his home.

Following the allegations, the Puri SP suspended Padhi, but he remained on the run until a special four-member team tracked him down outside Odisha.

He is expected to be produced in court after formalities are completed. The arrest has reignited public outrage, especially after a viral audio clip allegedly captured Investigating Officer Dilip Kandi threatening the victim’s mother. Kandi has denied the allegations.

Authorities say further investigation is underway, and calls for justice continue to grow.
