Suposhit Odisha Mission Launched: Odisha’s Bold Step Against Child Malnutrition

In a landmark step toward eradicating child malnutrition, the Odisha government has unveiled the Suposhit Odisha Mission under the broader Odisha Nutrition Mission.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the initiative at Lok Seva Bhawan, emphasising the state’s commitment to ensuring every child receives proper nutrition for healthy growth and development.

The mission will transform Anganwadi centres into dedicated nutrition hubs, offering specialised care for underweight and frail children.

A real-time monitoring dashboard linked to the Poshan Tracker will help identify gaps and enable swift corrective measures.

To strengthen outcomes, multiple departments—including Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Mission Shakti, Panchayati Raj, ST/SC Development, Minority Welfare, Sports and Youth Services, and School Education—will collaborate under an integrated service delivery model.

The initiative aims to reduce anaemia, stunting, and wasting among children across the state.

Alongside the mission launch, a cookbook featuring 100 traditional Odia recipes was released to highlight the state’s rich culinary heritage and promote nutritious food practices.

A coffee table book on Odisha’s nutrition landscape was also unveiled, serving as a resource for Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, mothers, and adolescent girls.

Safety measures are being prioritised, with fire safety equipment such as sandbags and extinguishers to be installed at Anganwadi centres.

Additionally, a sewing unit at the State Institute for Women and Children in Bhubaneswar was inaugurated to provide skill development and income opportunities for Anganwadi workers.

This holistic approach integrates nutrition, safety, and skill-building, marking a bold step toward a healthier future generation in Odisha
