Puri, July 8,(OT Webdesk): In a vivid display of devotional artistry, Padma Shri awardee and globally acclaimed sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik celebrated the sacred ritual of Niladri Bije on Puri Beach with a stunning sand creation that beautifully encapsulated Odisha’s spiritual and cultural essence.
Niladri Bije marks the final day of the Ratha Yatra, symbolising Lord Jagannath’s return to the Ratna Singhasana.
According to tradition, the Lord offers Rasagola to Goddess Maa Lakshmi to reconcile after leaving her behind during the chariot festival—an endearing gesture now cherished as Rasagola Dibasa.
Pattnaik’s sculpture depicted this emotional reunion, creatively blending elements of divinity and tradition: Mahaprabhu Jagannath’s serene form beside a traditional hāṇḍi of Rasagolas.
Devotees and tourists gathered to admire the artistry, with many capturing the moment to share across social platforms.
Quoting from his post on X (formerly Twitter), Pattnaik wrote:
“On the pious occasion of Niladri Bije, Mahaprabhu Jagannath, while returning to Ratna Singhasana, offers Rasagola to Maha Lakshmi. My sand art at Puri beach in Odisha for this unique ritual.”
The installation received widespread appreciation online, reinforcing the symbolic power of Odisha’s artistic legacy and devotion-infused landscapes.
