Subarnapur Gets ₹633 Crore Boost as CM Majhi Unveils Development Projects

Subarnapur district witnessed a historic moment on February 1, 2026, as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced development projects worth Rs 633 crore during his visit to the Subhadra Shakti Mela.

The initiatives span infrastructure, cultural heritage, sports, and women’s empowerment, marking a new chapter in the district’s growth story.

The largest allocation of Rs 557 crore will fund the construction of a river-based reservoir at Marudagochha, aimed at strengthening irrigation and water supply.

Cultural pride received a boost with Rs 35 crore earmarked for the comprehensive development of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi’s Samadhi Peeth.

Gandhi Stadium will undergo renovation with Rs 25.28 crore, while Rs 11.23 crore has been sanctioned for an open-air theatre at Sanskruti Bhavan. Road connectivity will improve with Rs

.23 crore dedicated to the Block Chhak Junction Road.

In addition, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 58 projects worth Rs 276 crore, covering roads, drinking water, irrigation, education, health, and rural development.

Women’s empowerment took centre stage as Rs 126 crore in interest-free loans were distributed to 1,848 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), supporting entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.

CM Majhi emphasised inclusive development, highlighting Subarnapur’s potential in agriculture, handloom, culture, and tourism.

He noted that industrial projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore are already operational in the district, reinforcing its role as a hub of growth.

Local leaders praised the government’s focus on agriculture, irrigation, and tourism, calling the announcements transformative for the region.
