Srimandir Ratna Bhandar expected to open on July 14, confirms Law Minister

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today) July 11: Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Thursday that the Srimandir Ratna Bhandar, a treasure trove of Lord Jagannath’s ornaments and valuables, is likely to be opened on July 14. This development comes after the Srimandir Managing Committee submitted a proposal to the state government, following the recommendation of a high-level committee.
The Ratna Bhandar Inspection Committee, chaired by Justice Biswanath Rath, fixed July 14 as the opening date in its second meeting on July 9. The committee has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the opening and inventory process.
According to the Law Minister, the government will verify the SOP and if everything is in order, the Ratna Bhandar will be opened on the scheduled date. The 16-member committee has proposed opening the treasury for both inventory and conservation works.
The government’s approval is the only pending aspect, and once granted, the Srimandir Ratna Bhandar will be opened on July 14, marking a significant milestone in the preservation and management of Lord Jagannath’s treasures.
