Sambalpur Jewellery Shop Loot: One Arrested, Two Minors Detained
Sambalpur police have arrested a 26‑year‑old man and detained two minors in connection with a daring jewellery shop theft in Kardola village under Burla police limits.
The incident occurred on May 13, 2026, when miscreants broke through the asbestos roof of the shop during a Sankirtan event and decamped with ornaments.
Acting on a complaint lodged by shop owner Akshay Sahu, police registered Case No. 225/2026 and launched an investigation.
CCTV footage and technical analysis led to the arrest of Raju Nag of Kadampada and the detention of two minors.
Recovered items include 48 silver coins, 50 silver anklets for children, 42 silver mangalsutras, 15 silver anklets, 40 silver lockets, 12 silver medals, 550 g of silver pieces, 12 gold lockets, 11 gold nose pins, and a gold‑weighing machine.
The case comes amid a wider crackdown in Sambalpur, where police have arrested 86 criminals in six days, underscoring intensified efforts against rising crime in the region.
