Rourkela Police Bust Online Betting Racket, Seize Rs 20 Lakh
Rourkela Police have dismantled a major online betting racket following a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations in the city.
Acting on confidential intelligence, teams from Plantside, Uditnagar, Bondamunda, and Raghunathpalli police stations carried out simultaneous operations that led to the seizure of over Rs 20 lakh in cash and the detention of five individuals.
Investigations revealed strong links between the racket and benami account providers as well as hawala operators, exposing a network of illegal money transfers.
Authorities are now scrutinising financial transactions, bank accounts, and digital records to uncover the full scale of the operation.
Police officials confirmed that further raids are planned as part of the ongoing crackdown.
The operation underscores the district’s determination to dismantle organised betting networks and curb unlawful financial flows in Odisha.
