Renowned Writer Giri Dandasena Passes Away at 77

Sundargarh, Odisha – The literary world of Odisha mourns the loss of Giri Dandasena, former vice-president of the Odisha Sahitya Academy, who passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 77 while undergoing treatment in Burla.

Dandasena, a celebrated writer from Sundargarh, was widely regarded as one of the leading literary figures of western Odisha.

His works, including Kaalasutra, Odishi Odishi, Bhumigarva, Rasta Kadare Jiban, and Sundargarh Itihasa, left a lasting imprint on Odia literature.
