Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), April 19: Prof. (Dr.) Sukumar Mishra, a native of Odisha, has been designated as the Director of IIT-Dhanbad, as announced by the Union Ministry of Education on Thursday. Mishra, formerly a distinguished professor in the electrical engineering department at IIT-Delhi, brings with him a wealth of academic expertise.
Having obtained his M.Tech and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, in 1992 and 2000, respectively, Mishra’s academic credentials are commendable.
Over the course of his career, Mishra has garnered numerous awards and honors, including the Young Scientist Award (1999) from the Orissa Bigyan Academy, the INSA Medal for Young Scientist (2002), and the INAE Young Engineer Award (2002), highlighting his exceptional contributions to the field.
With a research focus encompassing Power Systems, Power Quality Studies, Renewable Energy, and Smart Grid technologies, Mishra has earned acclaim for his pioneering work. His remarkable achievements have been recognized through prestigious accolades such as the National Mission Innovation Championship Award (2019), the INAE Outstanding Teachers Award (2021), and the Innovation Leadership Award (2023).
