Rayagada Police Crack Sindhekela Dacoity Case, Seven Arrested, ₹3 Crore Property Recovered
Rayagada police have achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational Sindhekela dacoity case, arresting seven members of a notorious gang and recovering stolen property worth nearly Rs 3 crore.
The arrested accused include Ishwar Naik, Trilochan Bag, Harischandra Naik, Sukant Bag, Barabil Naik, Nandalonda Pani, and Nabin Majhi.
The gang had looted a jewellery shop and the Dwaraseni temple, sparking widespread outrage across the district.
Recovered items include 2 kg of gold, 25 kg of silver ornaments, Rs 10 lakh cash, a Bolero vehicle, a KTM bike, and weapons used in the crime.
Police revealed that some temple ornaments had already been melted and sold, but significant property was traced and seized.
The investigation was led by five special teams who tracked a Bolero vehicle to Rayagada, eventually leading to the arrests.
Authorities confirmed that the gang had a history of dacoities in Kalahandi district and had regrouped after serving jail terms.
This breakthrough comes after weeks of public protests and demands for swift police action, restoring confidence in law enforcement efforts.
