Rayagada: Police Bus Brake Failure Sparks Chaos During Bharat Bandh Protest

Rayagada witnessed tense moments on Wednesday when a police bus suffered brake failure and rolled into a protest site at Siriguda Square during the Bharat Bandh demonstrations.

The bus crashed into chairs arranged for union leaders, triggering panic among workers.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident fueled anger among protesters. Labour leader Bhabani Shankar Jena alleged that the brake failure was a deliberate conspiracy by the BJP government to disrupt the strike.

The accident damaged property and heightened tensions, with workers raising slogans and demanding accountability.

Senior police officials, including Rayagada SDPO Gourahari Sahu and IIC Prasanna Behera, rushed to the spot. After hours of heated discussions, they managed to pacify the protesters and restore order.

The Bharat Bandh had already disrupted traffic across Odisha, and this incident added to the unrest in Rayagada.
