Rajpal Yadav Jailed in ₹9‑Crore Cheque Bounce Case

The Delhi High Court has sentenced Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav to three months’ imprisonment in each of seven cheque bounce cases linked to a Rs 9-crore debt.

Alongside the jail term, Yadav has been directed to pay Rs 1.05 crore in each case to the complainant, with additional sums payable to the State.

His wife, Radha Yadav, was also ordered to pay Rs 5.51 lakh per case.

The Court clarified that the Rs 2.25 crore already paid by Yadav will be adjusted against his liability.

Despite repeated interventions, settlement efforts collapsed as Yadav opposed structured repayment proposals, citing financial losses and property sales.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma criticised Yadav’s inconsistent stance, stressing that serving the sentence does not absolve financial obligations.

The complainant’s counsel highlighted Yadav’s acceptance of conviction and pointed to an unexplained delay of 1,894 days in filing his revision petition.

The Court had suggested a structured settlement of Rs 3 crore, with the complainant willing to accept Rs 6 crore as full and final payment.

However, Yadav declined, leading to the sentencing order.
