(OT Webdesk)Odisha is bracing for an extended spell of monsoon showers, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain across the state for five consecutive days.
On Sunday, a yellow warning was issued for 21 districts, alerting residents to the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds between 30–40 km/h.
While nine coastal districts are exempt from today’s warning, heavy rain is expected to intensify over North and South Odisha, particularly in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.
Visuals from Balangir’s Gandhamardhan hills showed dramatic water runoff cascading down slopes, with Harishankar Falls surging unexpectedly. Tourists had a fright but fortunately escaped unscathed.
Officials have cautioned residents to remain alert, especially on July 23, when rainfall is expected to sweep across the entire state.
