Railways Accelerate Employment Push with 50K+ Jobs in FY 2025–26

(OT Webdesk)In a sweeping move to address employment generation and public sector efficiency, the Ministry of Railways has unveiled plans to appoint over 50,000 candidates during the financial year 2025–26.

The initiative builds on the momentum established since November 2024, when the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released 12 notifications covering a total of 1.08 lakh vacancies.

According to the Ministry, more than 9,000 candidates have already been recruited in the first quarter alone.

Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) for these posts drew a staggering 1.86 crore applicants, underscoring the scale and significance of this nationwide drive.

To uphold fairness and transparency, Aadhaar-enabled E-KYC authentication has been employed, achieving a 95% success rate.

Additionally, electronic jammers have been installed across all exam centres to deter cheating.

Notably, the RRBs prioritised assigning exam venues closer to candidates’ residences, especially benefiting women and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Looking ahead, the ministry has signalled a continuation of the recruitment wave, targeting another 50,000+ appointments in FY 2026–27 as infrastructure expansion continues.

This drive reinforces the Centre’s commitment to digital transformation, equitable hiring, and large-scale public sector engagement across India.
