President’s Award-Winning Teacher Brutally Attacked Near Bhubaneswar Railway Station

Rayagada, Oct 13: In a shocking incident, Dwitichandra Sahu—a respected educator and recipient of the President’s Award—was critically injured in a violent assault near Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

According to sources, Sahu had travelled to Bhubaneswar on official duty. While walking near the station, he was suddenly attacked by an unidentified assailant wielding a wooden plank.

The blow caused severe head injuries, and he was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors administered 12 stitches. His condition remains critical.

The attacker fled the scene, and police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprit. The motive behind the attack is still unclear.

The Rayagada Teachers’ Association has strongly condemned the incident and demanded swift action against the perpetrator. “Such violence against an esteemed educator is unacceptable. We urge authorities to ensure justice,” a spokesperson said.

This incident has sparked outrage across Odisha’s education community, raising concerns about the safety of public servants even in urban centers.
