Polling agent and elderly voter pass away during Odisha elections

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 25: During the ongoing voting for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Hindol, Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, a tragic incident occurred as a polling agent collapsed and passed away. Identified as Sukadev Patnaik from Bahalunda, he suddenly fell unconscious while the voting process was in progress during the third phase of elections.

Efforts were made to save him, and he was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in Hindol. Despite the medical intervention, the doctors pronounced him dead. While initial suspicion points towards heat-related issues, the exact cause of his demise awaits confirmation pending a post-mortem examination.

In a separate unfortunate occurrence in Nayagarh, an elderly woman named Kumuduni Dalei, aged 65 and hailing from Patharpunji village, lost her life while exercising her voting rights at a polling booth.

Reports indicate that she experienced discomfort and collapsed while waiting in line. She was promptly taken to a hospital in Khandapada, where medical professionals, unfortunately, confirmed her passing.
