PM Modi’s Adviser Tarun Kapoor Pushes for Tourism & Infrastructure Overhaul in Sambalpur

Sambalpur — Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s adviser Tarun Kapoor conducted a high-level review of key infrastructure, tourism, and industrial projects in Sambalpur on Sunday, signalling a renewed push to transform the region into a development hotspot.

During his visit to the iconic Hirakud Dam, Kapoor assessed progress under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

Officials confirmed that tenders for multiple tourism initiatives had been finalised. Kapoor urged authorities to establish a clear execution timeline to position Hirakud as a premier tourism destination.

The adviser also inspected civic upgrades, including the Sambalpur Ring Road, the railway station redevelopment, and cultural restoration efforts at Bhima Mandali.

Stressing the importance of timely delivery, Kapoor called for strict adherence to project deadlines under the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation.

At Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Kapoor advocated for a comprehensive master plan focused on eco-tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community engagement—aiming to elevate the sanctuary to national prominence.

In the industrial sector, Kapoor reviewed operations of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), urging alignment with Sambalpur’s broader development roadmap.

Senior officials, including the Northern Revenue Divisional Commissioner, IG of Police, District Collector, SP, senior forest officers, and MCL’s CM,D were present during the review.
