(OT Webdesk ) In light of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for urgent meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA).
These discussions, slated for Wednesday, aim to address critical security concerns and political strategies in the wake of the tragedy.
The CCS meeting, scheduled for 11 AM, will delve into India’s security measures and explore the response to this unprecedented civilian attack in Kashmir.
Later in the day, the CCPA meeting will bring together key ministers, including Nitin Gadkari and JP Nadda, to craft strategies addressing the political dimensions of the situation.
The government has already initiated strong measures, such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, closing the Attari check post, and revoking the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani citizens. Additional actions like closing Indian airspace to Pakistani carriers and banning their ships from ports are under active consideration.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a probe into the attack, underscoring the gravity of this incident.
