Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) Jan 28: During the inauguration of the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 and the accompanying exhibition at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized Odisha’s crucial role in India’s growth engine. He stated that now is the opportune moment to invest in the state, as more opportunities are emerging than ever before.
This marks PM Modi’s second visit to Odisha in January 2025, following his earlier attendance at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event. Addressing the gathering, he noted that this year’s conclave is the largest business summit in Odisha’s history, with participation from five to six times more investors than previous events. He commended the people and government of Odisha for organizing such a grand event.
PM Modi highlighted the importance of Eastern India in the country’s development, asserting that Odisha plays a vital role. He referenced historical data showing the significant contributions of Eastern India to global growth and pointed out the numerous industrial and trade hubs in the region.
Recalling Odisha’s historic significance as a trading center in Southeast Asia, the Prime Minister mentioned the cultural celebration of Bali Yatra, which continues to this day. He noted the recent visit of Indonesia’s President, who remarked on the historical ties between Indonesia and Odisha.
The Prime Minister underlined that Odisha celebrates a legacy of connections with Southeast Asia, which the state is now revitalizing in the 21st century. He acknowledged Singapore’s enthusiasm for strengthening its relationship with Odisha and highlighted the interest of ASEAN countries in enhancing trade ties.
