Paradip Municipal Chairman’s Residence Targeted in Petrol Bomb Attack

Paradip, May 30: Tension gripped Paradip on Saturday evening after three unidentified bike‑borne miscreants hurled petrol bombs at the residence of Paradip Municipal Chairman Basant Biswal in the Madhuban area.

The incident occurred around 7 PM when Biswal was not at home.

Fortunately, no casualties or major damage were reported. Police recovered three broken bottles believed to be remnants of the bombs.

Officers from Adarsha Police Station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.

CCTV footage from the locality is being examined to identify the attackers, while patrolling has been intensified across the town.

Local citizens strongly condemned the attack, demanding swift and strict action to restore confidence in law and order.

The incident has sparked concern as Paradip, a key industrial hub, has witnessed political tensions before, but such a direct assault on a public representative after a long gap has alarmed residents.

Biswal, credited with driving Paradip’s development, enjoys broad public support.

The attack has raised questions about security arrangements for elected representatives in the region.
