OTET Paper Leak: Crime Branch Ordered to Submit Case Diary in Bail Hearing

Cuttack, August 12(OT Webdesk): In a major development in the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) paper leak case, the Cuttack Third Additional District Judge has directed the Crime Branch to submit the case diary related to the bail plea of Jitan Maharana, a data entry operator at the Board of Secondary Education.

Maharana was arrested for allegedly leaking and distributing OTET question papers across six districts.

The next hearing is scheduled for August 18, when the court will also consider bail applications of other accused—Sanatan Bishoyi, Ramji Prasad Gupta, and Jayanta Kumar Raut.

Earlier, the court had issued similar instructions regarding the bail plea of Dr. Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, vice-chairman of the board, who was also arrested following revelations about the leak’s scale and coordination.

The Crime Branch is expected to present detailed findings and the case diary during the upcoming hearing, shedding light on the extent of the breach and the roles of the accused.
