OPTCL Unveils Rs 15 Crore Sports Arena to Boost Employee Wellness and Community Engagement

Bhubaneswar, October 23, 2025 — In a landmark move to promote holistic well-being and community development, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art “OPTCL Sports Arena” at its Bhoinagar Colony in Unit-9, Bhubaneswar.

The ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, alongside senior government officials and dignitaries from the power sector.

The Rs 15 crore project, fully funded by OPTCL’s internal resources, will span 8,225 square meters and feature a comprehensive suite of facilities including badminton, tennis, and volleyball courts, an Olympic-standard swimming pool, jogging track, landscaped green zones, advanced lighting, surveillance systems, and seating for recreation.

Speaking at the event, Dy CM Singh Deo emphasised the arena’s role in fostering a healthier, more motivated workforce, while Minister Suraj hailed it as a model for integrating wellness into workplace culture.

With over 2,700 employees and 300 resident families, OPTCL is setting new benchmarks in employee welfare and infrastructure innovation.
