OPRB Under Fire as CBI Probe Deepens in SI Exam Fraud

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, exposing serious irregularities that cast doubts on the role of the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB).

According to investigators, the scam was orchestrated as early as March 2025.

While OPRB was tasked with printing the question papers, Suresh Nayak, Managing Director of Silicon Institute of Technology, allegedly manipulated the process.

He reportedly printed an additional set of papers and struck a Rs 25 lakh deal with aspirants.

The plan collapsed when the examination was abruptly cancelled in March, raising questions about whether OPRB knowingly remained silent or was unaware of the malpractice.

The CBI has interrogated SP Balabhadra Deep and Section Officer Gautam Behera of OPRB regarding possible involvement.

Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and hinted at more revelations in the coming days.

This development has intensified scrutiny of recruitment practices in Odisha, sparking concerns about transparency and accountability in public examinations.
