Operation Cyber Kavach: Odisha Police Crack Down on Cyber Fraud
Odisha Police have launched a sweeping campaign against cybercrime under Operation Cyber Kavach, targeting mule accounts and fraudulent financial activities across the state.
Acting on the directives of DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, district SPs and DCPs supervised cyber units to identify suspicious accounts and arrest offenders.
During the operation, authorities scrutinised 21,162 mule bank accounts, registering 696 mule bank cases, 31 ATM withdrawal cases, 25 cheque withdrawal cases, and 15 fake SIM/PoS cases.
A total of 273 accused persons were arrested, while notices were served to 4,860 suspects, including those linked to older FIRs.
District‑level actions highlighted the scale of the crackdown: Cuttack examined 50 benami accounts, Jagatsinghpur checked 105 accounts, Jajpur issued 26 notices, Puri registered six cases, and Angul made one arrest with 57 notices.
Bhubaneswar scrutinised 378 accounts, while Nayagarh issued 238 notices.
Police officials emphasised that the campaign will continue with stricter measures to safeguard citizens’ digital transactions and curb cyber fraud across Odisha.
