OMFED Hikes Milk Prices Across Odisha to Strengthen Farmer Welfare

OMFED milk price hike Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 21(OT Webdesk) – The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has increased milk prices statewide, effective today.

The move, aligned with the government’s rural upliftment efforts, is aimed at easing the burden of rising production costs while ensuring better pay for dairy farmers.

According to the revised rate sheet:

  • Premium and toned milk now costs Rs 2 more per litre.
  • Gold milk sees a steeper rise of Rs 4 per litre.
  • Retail prices have surged to Rs 54 per litre in select regions.

In a parallel move to benefit producers, dairy farmers will now earn Rs 3 more per litre of milk supplied, with Rs 2 of that amount subsidized by the state government.

OMFED officials emphasized the decision as part of a broader strategy to ensure a sustainable dairy ecosystem, balancing consumer demand with the long-term viability of the industry.

While the modest hike may slightly impact household budgets, the larger aim is to stabilise supply chains and bolster rural livelihoods, signalling the state’s enduring focus on agricultural development.
