Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 3: As a precautionary measure to ensure peace during and after the vote counting for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on Tuesday, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been implemented in select areas of Odisha’s Bargarh district.
Official sources confirmed that authorities have directed the imposition of restrictions under Section 144 in Bargarh sub-division, as well as in the areas falling under the Padampur and Bijepur Assembly constituencies in the western Odisha district.
In Bargarh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kumar Nagabhushan stated that restrictions would be enforced on unlawful assemblies and the holding of public meetings during the counting day on Tuesday. Additionally, a three-tier security cordon system is being established at all counting premises to prevent unauthorized access to the counting centers. Moreover, victory processions following the declaration of results have been banned under the provisions of Section 144, and measures are being implemented to avert any potential clashes between different groups.
Similarly, Padampur SDM Arun Kumar Patel has issued orders for the implementation of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC around the premises of the counting centers for the Padampur and Bijepur Assembly constituencies.
