Odisha Weather Update: Dense Fog and Temperature Drop Grip 13 Cities | January 2026 Forecast
Odisha is bracing for a sharp fall in night temperatures, with the mercury expected to dip by 2–4°C across the state starting tonight.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the chill will be accompanied by widespread fog, particularly in northern coastal and interior districts.
In the past 24 hours, dense fog has already been reported in 13 cities, while five cities recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C. G. Udayagiri emerged as the coldest location at 6.4°C, with Jajpur experiencing heavy fog.
Officials have forecast that the cold and foggy conditions will persist until January 9. After this period, night temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2–3°C, though dry weather will continue.
The prevailing fog is attributed to dry atmospheric conditions combined with cloud inflows from the sea.
Residents in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and other northern coastal districts are already experiencing lower minimum temperatures.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions against cold exposure and reduced visibility, especially during early mornings and late evenings.
