Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday unearthed massive assets from the possession of Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Deputy Commissioner of the State Transport Authority (STA) and his family members.
During the searches, Vigilance officials recovered Rs.15 lakh in cash, three gold biscuits, and gold ornaments from his residence at Maitri Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
The Vigilance department conducted raids at multiple locations in connection with allegations against Pradeep Kumar Mohanty regarding possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, officials of the anti-corruption agency conducted simultaneous searches at nine locations across Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, and Cuttack.
During the operation, Vigilance officials unearthed four multi-storeyed buildings, Rs.1 crore paid towards the purchase of a 4-BHK flat in Bhubaneswar, eleven high-value plots, a farmhouse spread over 14 acres, three gold biscuits (each weighing 100 grams),gold ornaments (total weight approximately 700 grams) and Rs.5 lakh in cash, three four-wheelers (registered under Benami names)
These assets were found in the possession of the STA Deputy Commissioner and his family members.
Bank deposits, postal savings, insurance investments, and other financial holdings are still being assessed, Vigilance sources said.
