Odisha Vigilance Raid: Rs 1.44 Crore Cash, Gold Seized from Jeypore Deputy Ranger

(OT Webdesk)In a major crackdown on alleged corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials raided multiple properties linked to Rama Chandra Nepak, Deputy Ranger-cum-Incharge Ranger of Jeypore Forest Range, uncovering Rs 1.44 crore in unaccounted cash and significant quantities of gold.

The raids, conducted early Friday across six locations in Jeypore and Bhubaneswar, were carried out by a high-level team comprising 6 DSsP, 5 Inspectors, 9 ASIs, and support staff.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Jeypore, the team discovered the cash hidden in a secret vault at Nepak’s apartment in Golden Height Residential Complex.

Additional recoveries included 4 gold biscuits and 16 gold coins (each weighing 10 grams), along with Rs 3.5 lakh seized during initial searches.

The operation extended to his paternal property, his brother’s flat in Bhubaneswar, his in-laws’ residence, and his office chamber.

Cash counting machines and gold weighment procedures are underway as the investigation continues.
