Odisha Vigilance Catches Junior Clerk Red-Handed in Rs 15K Bribery Case

Kendrapara (OT Webdesk): In a swift anti-corruption operation, Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Narayan Prasad Lenka, a Junior Clerk at the Block Education Officer’s office in Mahakalpada, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.

The sting was triggered by a complaint from a Headmaster who alleged that Lenka demanded money to process the final instalment of a Rs 6.2 lakh housing loan and clear pending salary and travel allowance bills.

The operation unfolded at Canal Road, Marshaghai, where Lenka was caught red-handed with the tainted cash.

Officials recovered the entire bribe amount and launched simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Lenka to investigate possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Cuttack Vigilance PS. The investigation is ongoing.
