Odisha Unearths Diamond and Ruby Deposits Across Districts
Odisha’s mineral wealth has received a major boost with the confirmation of diamond deposits in Nuapada district.
Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena announced that diamond-bearing stones have been identified in Kalmidadar under the Nuapada block, with experts currently assessing their technical and economic viability.
In addition, rubies have been discovered in Hinjilibahal–Jilingibar under the Junagarh block of Kalahandi district.
Other significant finds include copper, graphite, nickel, and gold in Deogarh’s Reamal block, gold and copper in Mayurbhanj’s Kuliana block, and gold-bearing stones in Keonjhar’s Banspal block.
The minister clarified that no pearl mines have been identified in Odisha so far.
These discoveries highlight Odisha’s growing importance as a hub of precious and industrial minerals, potentially opening new avenues for economic development and investment.
