Odisha to Launch Kharif Paddy Procurement on Nov 20 with 100 Model Mandis
Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Odisha is set to begin Kharif paddy procurement from November 20, 2025, with the first phase starting in Bargarh district, one of the state’s largest paddy hubs.
Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta announced that the government has introduced modern facilities in mandis to ensure safe storage and smooth handling of farmers’ produce.
As part of a long‑term plan, the state will establish 100 model mandis within two years. Already, 38 mandis have been finalised through tendering, and construction work is underway. These mandis are designed to serve as benchmarks of efficiency, transparency, and farmer‑friendly operations.
Minister Bal Samanta emphasised that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening cooperative structures and ensuring fair prices for cultivators.
With modernised procurement systems, thousands of farmers across Odisha are expected to benefit from streamlined transactions and reduced challenges during the upcoming season.
