Odisha to Build 20 MW Solar Power Plants Under ₹81 Crore OASBY Project

Odisha has announced plans to establish ten solar photovoltaic plants, each with a capacity of 2 MW, under the Odisha Akshaya Shakti Bikash Yojana (OASBY) and PM‑KUSUM Component‑A.

The Rs 81 crore project will be implemented by the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) over two years, with Rs 50 crore allocated in 2025–26 and Rs 31 crore in 2026–27.

The plants will be grid‑connected, ground‑mounted, and equipped with SCADA monitoring systems to ensure efficiency.

Power generated will feed directly into local distribution networks, reducing transmission losses and strengthening rural electricity supply.

State equity support will amount to Rs 24.30 crore, while OREDA will borrow Rs 56.70 crore to finance the initiative.

The project is expected to avoid 5,50,339 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over its 25‑year lifespan, contributing significantly to Odisha’s climate commitments and renewable purchase obligations.

By focusing on smaller, decentralised plants near demand centres such as villages and farms, Odisha aims to provide reliable electricity for agriculture and rural households while advancing its clean energy goals.
